Playing with the Millennia:
London based artist, Sheila Malhotra has received critical acclaim for her very unique series ‘The world through a Porthole’
A new vision, which had been evolving in Sheila’s mind but remained nascent, initially got encased within the entrails of the porthole. Remaining within those confines for a while, it gradually broke into the open and became a separate identity. It found a new niche for itself - ‘Playing with the Millennia’ which views the world at the Dawn of the New Millennium and the Dusk of the Previous.
Having lived in London for a number of years, she still has her roots deeply embedded in the Indian ethos. She grew and flourished as an artist in her native land. Sheila spent her childhood in Shimla (HP) where she received her early education. Living among the Himalayan pinewood forests, she got her inspiration to paint at a very early age. A graduate from the Punjab University, Sheila received formal Art Education from the Govt. College of Arts, Chandigarh. Her paintings have a surreal flavour, blending reality with imagination.
